Northern Ohio Bioptic Driving Program
Bioptics: These special telescopic eyeglasses are low vision aids that can help those with Macular degeneration, albinism, Stargart’s Disease, and a host of other causes of reduced vision.
If you qualify, we can help you learn or return to driving! Through our developed and tested system of training, our program will make you a prepared and confident driver.
The program: The program starts with an evaluation by Dr. Pettitt UDS. She will evaluate your medical condition and will determine if you are a good candidate to enroll in our Bioptic Driving Program or assist you in other programs. Once approved she will do the initial fitting and training in how to use the bioptic. She will also teach you the care and maintenance of your new bioptic.
Driving with Bioptics: After you have been approved by Dr. Pettitt, you will then be referred to us to begin the learning process of how to drive with your new bioptics. The system we have developed will benefit a new driver as well as a seasoned one. Our system not only teaches you how to use the bioptics properly on the road, but simplifies the driving environment to make you more efficient in your spotting.
Our program meets all State standards to allow you to receive your daytime biotic license to drive, or your nighttime bioptic license to drive.
